As the successor of a very prestigious model in the Unison Research amplifier line, the Unico Secondo benefits from our many years of experience in designing and producing hybrid amplifiers. The circuit has been completely renovated, maintaining the more successful aspects of the preceding model while improving some crucial elements.
First, the power supply circuits have been optimized. The efficiency of the system has been improved through the addition of a secondary winding in the power supply transformer, thus reducing the power dissipation and increasing the overall reliability of the Secondo. The power stage current distribution system, with its newly optimized design, combines a correct space allocation for all the critical parts that also results in an ease of assembly and service.
The preamplifier and driver stage are derived from renowned models such as the Unico SE and the Unico 200. They are further refined through in-depth analysis and measurements executed in our laboratories with state-of-the-art test devices from Audio Precision and Tektronix…not to mention long listening sessions.
While the Unico Secondo has undergone a careful and thorough restyling, it has not lost the distinctive elements of the Unico Series that are so appreciated all over the world. The front panel now has a greater height, similar to that of the Unico SE. The sides and the top eschew the old black iron plates for a new brushed anodized aluminum cover, which gives the amplifier a contemporary and more aesthetically pleasing look.
